Fans divided over Purdue star Zach Edey's scheduled visit with Lakers

Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey will hear his name called in the 2024 NBA draft but many have been torn on where he will be taken. Leading up to the draft, Edey has had visits with teams and reported interest from multiple teams.

It was revealed on Friday that Edey has now met with the Los Angeles Lakers, who have the 17th and 56th picks in the draft. Fans had mixed reactions to the news and took to X to discuss it:

"Need it," one fan wrote.
"Throw him at Jokic….," a fan added.

Other Lakers fans, meanwhile, don't think Edey is a good fit for the team.

"Good gravy. I know he’s good but I don’t like him," a fan added.
"No thanks," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, some wonder if Edey's game can translate to the NBA.

"Not sold on him translating well to the league but we shall see," a fan added.
"I think he can be good, he doesn’t need to run as much when AD is on the floor and has to be guarded close to the basket because he can make close shots," another fan wrote.

Last season, Edey averaged 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 2.0 assists and it remains to be seen how his game will translate into the NBA.

Where is Zach Edey projected to be drafted?

Zach Edey is projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft. In ESPN's latest mock draft, they have Edey going 15th overall to the Miami Heat, while The Athletic's mock draft has him going 21st overall to the New Orleans Pelicans.

The biggest question for Edey going into the draft is how his game translates to the NBA. Shannon Sharpe had an interesting take on the "Nightcap" podcast in April, and said the following:

"Will an elephant ever be able to run like a cheeta? Zach Edey has never played like that, so you're asking a guy to re-do his game.
"I give him a 10-15% chance."

The first round of the 2024 NBA draft is set for June 26, and it will be interesting to see where Zach Edey goes.
