Women's basketball guard Flau'jae Johnson and football wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr. have made their relationship public, representing themselves as two of LSU's best. This prompted some noise on social media, with a few fans even comparing their relationship to that of Travis Hunter's.
Johnson posted a photo of them on Instagram, showing the two of them together in Christmas gear. They seem to be enjoying the holidays while Johnson has her Christmas break from LSU basketball.
"Santa listened. #MerryChristmas," Johnson said in the post with her and Chris Hilton Jr. embraced in the photo.
Fans immediately reacted to the post, commenting:
"Travis Hunter can learn a thing or 2 from this," one fan said.
"His breakout season coming next year...as long as he stay injury free," another said about Hilton Jr.
"Okay we get it LSU breeds LEGENDS!" a fan exclaimed.
"Ya all be careful with your relationships in the internet..Keep ya s** private gang," one fan said.
"Make a new trend for men and women. Beautiful couple," one fan stated.
"Gonna see both of them in the league next year," a fan remarked.
Flau'jae Johnson wasn't a fan of cheerleading
There was a time when Johnson took part in cheerleading thanks to persuasion from her mother. However, things didn't go so well.
“I tried to play football, but I couldn’t. They let me do like one snap at QB, and it was wraps. My mom was like, ‘No.’ She made me cheer. I hated cheerleading, I ain’t gon’ lie," Johnson said.
“Cheerleading was terrible. She only wanted me on the team because I could do backflips and stuff like that. Worst experience of my life. I wanted to be on the field, basically.”
Luckily for Johnson, she found her sport in basketball as she's performing at a star level for the No. 6 LSU Tigers. 14 games into the 2024-25 season, she is averaging 20.9 points, six rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.1 blocks on 51.9% shooting from the field and 41.8% from beyond the arc.
Her efforts have allowed LSU to boast a perfect 14-0 record so far. They are putting up 93.3 points on 49.2% shooting overall and 36.4% from downtown as one of the best scoring teams in the country, beating opponents by 34.1 points per game.
Johnson and the No. 6 Tigers will host one more game to finish 2024, facing Albany at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. ET.
