"Two of the best people of all time": Kate Martin shares 'amazing' relationship between her ex-Iowa teammate Gabbie Marshall & her boyfriend

Las Vegas Aces star Kate Martin spent six years at Iowa where she emerged as one of the most prolific guards in the program's history She appeared on the August 6 episode of "Fresh Tawk with Jada Gyamfi" podcast where the two had a candid conversation about their basketball journeys and the bond they have formed in Iowa.

Martin formed a strong friendship with several teammates Gabbie Marshall, Jada Gyamfi and Caitlin Clark. She mentioned that she plans to retire on a farm where she will raise cattle and she hopes to have many nieces. The 6-foot guard then transitioned into a discussion about her friend Gabbie Marshall and her boyfriend Spencer Touro.

"I wonder when they're going to get engaged and married ... Those are two of the best people of all time. They're amazing," Martin said. [56:57]

"I love Spencer. I keep sending Spencer these TikToks of dad and daughter doing CrossFit together and like I'm like dude this is literally going to be Spencer and his daughter. So I did wonder why wouldn't you name, if you named your daughter after you why would it not be junior so it's only for boys," Kate Martin said.

Jada Gyamfi admired Martins' desire to live a simple life and assured her that she would have plenty of nieces in the future.

"I'll give you a couple, hopefully, fingers crossed. Gabb will give you a couple," Gyamfi said. "That's actually more on the radar than me, I got some time." (56:40)

Former Hawkeye Gabbie Marshall started dating Spencer Touro during her senior year at Iowa. Touro is a personal fitness trainer at West Branch, Iowa.

Jada Gyamfi, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall's trip that never was

Kate Martin planned to go out on a summer break with Gyamfi and Marshall but the trip never happened. After the Hawkeyes lost the NCAA championship to Dawn Staley's South Carolina, the trio thought of a vacation to get their mind off basketball.

"Remember when you, me and Gabbie were gonna go on a trip and it never happened because life happened so fast," Martin said [via Fresh Tawk podcast]. "It's crazy because we were planning that trip like we were gonna have like two while months together. I didn't think I was going to be in the WNBA so it's so funny that we had all these life plans." All three of them have separated now. Kate Martin got drafted by the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. Gyamfi entered her junior year at Iowa and Gabbie retired from basketball to pursue a master's degree in occupational therapy from North Carolina.
