UCLA coach Mick Cronin is worried about the challenges of playing in the Big Ten due to his team's tough schedule. Following a 65-60 win at Washington on Friday, Cronin spoke about not being sure how his team would tackle the travel issues presented by moving from the Pac-12 into its new conference.
“Come up here and win without Tyler (Bilodeau)," Cronin said in a YouTube video via ON3. "We played Friday, Tuesday, Friday, and we’ve got to turn around and play on the road again on Monday (at USC). Play again on Thursday (at home against Oregon).
"So, the schedule for all of the West Coast teams, I don’t know what the answer is, but it’s — and then I looked. I finally looked, like Michigan State, their last seven or eight games have all been against top 20, top 30 teams. So, it’s just — I don’t know what the answer is for the Big Ten. Not sure."
Cronin thinks the Big Ten conference needs to find a better way to schedule games, especially for West Coast teams. He wants to make sure that all teams have a fair chance to succeed and that the schedule doesn't put some teams at a disadvantage.
Cronin leads UCLA to third consecutive win
Mike Cronin led the UCLA Bruins (14-6, 5-4 Big Ten) to victory against the Washington Huskies, making it their third consecutive win.
However, despite the winning streak, they remain tied for seventh in the Big Ten.
The UCLA coach will be looking to extend his winning streak when his team visits the USC Trojans (12-7, 4-4) on Monday.
