UConn basketball enters year seven of Dan Hurley's era as head coach. He arrived in Storrs in 2018 and transformed the program into a powerhouse, winning back-to-back NCAA championships in 2023 and 2024.

Hurley was named the 2024 Naismith College Coach of the Year and received the Sporting News National Coach of the Year. However, his success was not overnight but a result of his years of tireless dedication. His story has a cinematic appeal that makes it perfect for a movie adaptation.

College basketball insider Jon Rothstein tweeted on Tuesday that Hurley wants The Dark Knight actor and four-time Academy Award nominee Christian Bale to play the lead in his biopic movie.

"Dan Hurley tells me that if his life is ever made into a movie, he thinks that Christian Bale should be the lead actor," Rothstein tweeted.

Hurley and Christian Bale are both in their early fifties and many believe they both look quite similar.

"Dan Hurley’s facial expressions remind me of Christian Bale’s character 'Dicky' in the movie "The Fighter", an X user tweeted back in April.

Besides the resemblance, Bale has portrayed some iconic characters in movies over the years. Some of his works include the portrayals of Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, Trevor Reznik in The Machinist and Dicky Eklund in The Fighter. Bale won the Best Supporting Actor award in 2011.

Dan Hurley's roster stacked with good shooters, per analyst

Dan Hurley has built one of the top offensive teams in college basketball. His players play smart together on offense, but they did face difficulty shooting.

However, Jon Rothstein, a CBS hoops analyst, believes that shooting should not be an issue for the Huskies since the 2024 roster is stacked with players adept at producing kill shots.

"This has a chance to be Dan Hurley's best shooting team at UConn. Tailor made for the Huskies' inverted offensive concepts. Major floor spacers in Liam McNeeley, Alex Karaban, and Aidan Mahaney," Rothstein tweeted.

Hurley is great at combining multiple styles of play. He uses a fast attack to take advantage of turnovers or bad shots by the other team. Second, he employs a slow, detailed half-court offense with multiple strategies, patiently waiting for the opponent to make a mistake.

It remains to be seen if Hurley can make a historic three-peat next season.
