After two years in Michigan, Tarris Reed Jr. is preparing for his junior season with Dan Hurley's championship-winning squad. The forward was a regular starter in his sophomore year and is expected to reprise the role here since UConn lost four regular starters to the NBA draft.

During his media availability on Friday, coach Hurley shared his assessment of Reed after two months in practice. CT Insider's David Borges first tweeted the coach as saying:

"I think his biggest problem is how talented he is and how many things he's capable of doing."

Later, he added more context into what the coach meant as he wrote (via CT Insider):

"He could do a lot of different things, and he ends up having so much variety, I think that's the reason why his field-goal percentage has been as high as you'd expect from a center, and the assist-to-turnover, and maybe the blocked shots and some of the rebounding numbers not being where you'd want them to be for somebody who's so gifted."

In his freshman season, Tarris Reed Jr. played an average of 12.6 minutes with 3.4 points and 3.9 rebounds. In his sophomore season, his playtime increased to 26.6 minutes, and he averaged 9.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks.

Tarris Reed Jr. shares his thoughts on playing in Dan Hurley's team

Dan Hurley is known as one of the toughest coaches in college basketball. When Tarris Reed Jr. was asked about his experience from the practice sessions, he said (via Hartford Courant):

“It’s different. I’m telling you it’s different. My expectations were high, but it beat my expectations. Everything from the accountability standpoint, the expectation standpoint, the standard. Coming in here, it was tough."

Tarris Reed Jr. is not the only forward on the team, and it is possible that he would have to split his playtime with Samson Johnson and Youssouf Singare. Having already experienced this with the Wolverines, it seems like the forward is more than ready.

"I knew I was going to have to split and share minutes," he said (via CT Insider). "I mean, I'm in a great program, learning from great coaches with great guys pushing them. I can make a little sacrifice in order to play for the best program in the country, and learn and develop my game."
