UConn freshman Morgan Cheli is making her mark as the Huskies attempt to win their first national championship since 2016. The guard is averaging 3.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 48.3% from the floor.

As the Huskies prepare for their return to action after the holiday break, Morgan Cheli spoke with the press. She commented on Paige Bueckers' importance for the team to The Daily Campus' Jake McCreven.

"Morgan Cheli on Paige Bueckers: 'On the court, off the court, she’s the first person to help us,'" McCreven tweeted.

This is not the first time that Morgan Cheli praised Bueckers. After UConn's 79-44 win over Georgetown, the guard had said:

"Honestly, Paige, in her leadership, she works really hard in her hustle, you can see every time she's on the court. And, yeah, I mean just her journey so far here, and I've learned a lot from her and just how to keep going and you can always get better."

Paige Bueckers once praised Morgan Cheli and her presence on the court for UConn

Morgan Cheli had her most efficient game against Georgetown when she went perfect 3-for-3 from the floor and finished with five points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Commenting on her performance, Bueckers said:

"Yeah, I thought tonight she really showcased how well she knows the game and her instincts and how much she hustled and created havoc and got in the lanes. But I think with her, she can play one through five honestly, and that's like a game changer in terms of what we can run, how we can switch up our defense.
"But I think Morgan's just really great at adapting to whatever role and whatever position she has to play out on the floor. So, she's really easy to play in any sort of situation with any group out there."

Paige Bueckers is playing her final season with the Huskies and will be hoping to end it on a high. Players like Morgan Cheli, Sarah Strong and Kaitlyn Chen will play an important role in helping Bueckers, especially during the post-season run.

Although the Huskies have shown themselves to be strong, they struggle with inconsistencies as they lost important games against USC and Notre Dame.
