UConn Huskies guard Paige Bueckers joined Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart for a picture at the "Queens of Court" panel discussion in Phoenix on Friday. It also included the former UConn players' spouses.
Sue Bird posted the picture on Instagram with the caption:
"What more can I say?"
Paige Bueckers commented:
"By all the goats"
The photo carrousel also included pictures with other WNBA players like Brittney Griner, Nneka Ogwumike and Stefanie Dolson. All the players, including the Huskies, are represented by Wasserman.
Bird, Taurasi and Stewart are a part of the elite club of UConn greats, along with Tina Charles and Maya Moore.
Paige Bueckers is one step away from joining them, and all she has to do is win a championship. With the upcoming season being her final year at Storrs, the pressure is on the guard to bring home the title the Huskies last won in 2016.
Bueckers' former teammate, Nika Muhl, who now plays for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA, gave her predictions for the final season.
"I'm expecting a national championship, but if you ask me every year that I was in college, I was expecting a national championship," Muhl told Mirror Sports U.S. "That's the standard. That's how it is at UConn."
"It's always the expectation, no matter what team you have, no matter how many players you have on the court, that's the standard that we practice upon and that we play upon at the end of the day."
The UConn Huskies came close to one last season but were sent home by Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Final Four.
Paige Bueckers on sharing the spotlight with fellow players
With Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark transitioning to the WNBA, Paige Bueckers is set to become the next face of the league. However, the guard has explained many times that she's not intent on carrying the weight of it by herself.
“I think it's really important to show all the stars, all the people who have paved the way, all the people who are playing right now, and all the people to come in the future,” she said (via Highsnobiety)
“The focus should be showing how talented these women are and how much they dedicate their minds, their bodies, and a lot of their time to be great at their sport.”
Some of the other college basketball players expected to share the spotlight with Bueckers are JuJu Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo.
