UConn's Paige Bueckers gave high praise to college football star Travis Hunter after his performance against Baylor on Saturday. The Colorado Buffaloes' cornerback/wide receiver made a game-winning goal-line stand in overtime to clinch a 38-31 victory over the Bears.
Hunter's strong defense, including a final-second forced fumble, also involved making two other tackles and helping limit Baylor's passing to just 148 yards. On offense, Hunter had seven catches and 130 receiving yards, which was a little less than the Bears’ total passing yards.
Paige Bueckers, a projected top pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, was impressed with the young athlete's performance.
"Travis Hunter is not real," Paige tweeted on Saturday.
Meanwhile, several other big names also hailed Travis Hunter's heroics on social media, including South Carolina coach Dawn Staley.
"Hey @CUBuffsFootball ….I need a Travis Hunter jersey asap! I ain’t hard to find! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you in advance!" Staley wrote on X.
Likewise, college football analyst Joel Klatt also weighed in on the two-way star's impact.
"Travis Hunter is the best player in CFB...Absurd what he is doing...Causes the fumble to seal the win in OT," Klatt said.
Hunter was recognized as a consensus All-American and earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 second team last year. He also won the Paul Hornung Award and is poised for another incredible season.
Paige Bueckers celebrates former teammate Nika Muhl's first bucket in WNBA
UConn senior guard Paige Bueckers could not contain her excitement as her former Huskies teammate Nika Muhl scored long-awaited WNBA points.
Muhl, a Seattle Storm rookie, had to wait fifteen games to finally score on Thursday against the Phoenix Mercury. With 4:40 left in the game, she stole the ball and made a transition layup for her first WNBA points.
Paige Bueckers showed her love on X after Muhl's shot went through the net.
"First bucket twinnnnnnnnnnn 🤩🤩🤩," Paige wrote.
Bueckers and Muhl played together at UConn for three seasons, as Muhl left Storrs for the WNBA this summer. She was in tears when she explained her friendship with teammate Paige Bueckers after the Huskies' Big East championship win in March.
"I'm just so grateful and thankful to the universe that I was able to come across a person like that," Muhl told SNY. "I'm thankful to coach for recruiting us at the same time and bringing us here. That's my best friend, my sister. She's been holding me down since the start."
The Seattle Storm selected Muhl as the 14th overall pick in this year's WNBA draft. She made her debut on May 22, grabbing two rebounds.
