The UConn Huskies are back gearing up for next season, and Paige Bueckers, who had a busy off-season, was back in the gym last week as well. Last week, Bueckers attended 'The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp' alongside some of her UConn teammates.
The official Huskies Instagram account posted pictures of Bueckers alongside Huskies teammates Kamorea Arnold and Azzi Fudd, among others, at the camp.
"Grateful we got to spend some time with our friends at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp last week 💙."
Bueckers posted a hilarious picture of herself on her Instagram stories during the camp after getting dunked into the game pool.
"Got dunked on," Bueckers wrote.
Paige Bueckers gearing up for a season as the face of college basketball
Paige Bueckers had a stellar season last year, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists after a harrowing two years dealing with ACL injuries that limited her playing time.
Bueckers has already captured a huge fanbase after her heroics during her freshman year, where she swept all the national individual awards, fulfilling the hype that accompanied her from high school.
The Huskies star has only increased her popularity among college hoops fans this off-season with her enthusiastic support for her former teammates during the WNBA draft.
Before the Huskies clashed with the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2024 NCAA tournament, Bueckers discussed the possibility of being the face of college basketball after Caitlin Clark's departure.
"I know freshman year I was like the media darling," Bueckers said. "... I think it's more important for the game to share the spotlight, to grow the game and show all the stars of college basketball, not just focus on one particular player.
"I honestly hope next year I'm not the focal point and the only person that gets attention. I hope as media and as players we can spread the love a little bit more."
Paige Bueckers will have to contend with the attention that has gripped women's college basketball and the presence of several other stars scattered among the other programs.
Some of them include USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins and talented guard Lucy Olsen, the No. 3 scorer in the country last season. Olsen transferred from the Villanova Wildcats to the Iowa Hawkeyes to replace Clark.
