UConn Huskies guard Paige Bueckers is going all-out in preparation for her potential final college season. She has been showing fans peeks into her workout sessions in the gym.
JoMatt Mendoza posted highlights from Bueckers' recent practice session with a motivational commentary in the background.
"Obsessed with being the Best Version of Yourself. @PaigeBueckers," the caption read.
The UConn guard replied to the post and wrote:
"My guy!"
Paige Bueckers and the Huskies came close to a championship last season, but the Iowa Hawkeyes put an end to their campaign in the Final Four game. The roster was reduced to three seniors and five freshman players who also stepped up to the task of securing the win.
“We put ourselves in a position to win a game that we probably had no business even being in, given the circumstances that we worked with,” Geno Auriemma said after the Final Four loss. "It was an amazing run. Loved every minute of it. Incredibly grateful and tremendously disappointed.”
“We persevered and we were really resilient in our approach all the way to this last game and really left it off the floor today,” Aaliyah Edwards said.
With the healthy return of the players and a few additions from the 2024 recruiting class and transfer portal, the UConn Huskies are ready for the battle again.
Paige Bueckers is all ready to take up the responsibility of the team
In their championship pursuit last season, Paige Bueckers was assisted by Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards. However, in the upcoming season, it is all on her. Both players have transitioned to the WNBA with Edwards playing for the Washington Mystics and Nika Muhl for the Seattle Storm.
"It's crazy. Because I feel like I don't have Nika, I don't have Aaliyah. So, it's really all on me," Paige said during a media session. "And it's mostly my responsibility. Obviously Aubrey, Azzi and other upperclassmen but I'm the only one on the court right now. So, I'm taking that responsibility and I'm doing it with pride."
"I'm making sure that I'm leading these young guys, being a voice for them, leading them, teaching, communicating. And also leading by example in what I do on the court and off the court."
The Huskies have not won a championship since 2016 and Paige Bueckers needs the title win to vouch herself into UConn greats conversations. Will they be able to succeed in this task? Let us know in the comments section below.
