Geno Auriemma has led the UConn Huskies to 11 national titles and six undefeated seasons. In the coming season, he will have to rely on different players to add yet another feather to his illustrious career.
Huskies lost to Caitlin Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes in the Final four of the NCAA Tournament 2024. With the departure of Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers will be at the center of attention.
The starting lineup of the Huskies will be quite different. Aaliyah Edwards went to the Washington Mystics this year and Nika Muhl is in the camp of Seattle Storm.
Geno Auriemma has generally believed in investing in fresh high schoolers and making UConn a nursery of homegrown talent. This year the famed coach was open with the options and added Kaitlyn Chen to the roster.
UConn women's basketball 2024-25 starting lineup predictions
Paige Bueckers
Bueckers will return to the roster for the fifth year of eligibility. Last year she played as a power forward rather than a traditional guard and will likely don the same mantle this season. Last season, the two-time All-American averaged 21.9 points and 5.2 rebounds.
KK Arnold
Last season KK Arnold appeared in all 39 games and started in 33 games. She averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists. The UConn guard was named to the 2024 BIG EAST All-Freshman team.
Given her prominence in the team last season, she will continue to feature in the starting lineup next season.
Kaitlyn Chen
Kaitlyn was transferred to UConn after entering the transfer portal this year. She scored 1276 points, 313 rebounds, and 359 assists in her four-year stint at Princeton.
Chen was awarded the 2023 Ivy League Player of the Year and will fill in the vacuum left by the departure of top Huskies stars.
Aubrey Griffin
Griffin was planning to start her professional career before she suffered a season-ending ACL tear. She will return to the roster and will be the first player to play for the sixth season with Geno Auriemma.
Last season the UConn forward appeared in 14 games with five starts and will likely see an increased role in the starting lineup.
Ice Brady
Ice Brady was a good backup last season for Aaliyah Edwards. The Huskies forward appeared in 39 games last season with 3 starts. Brady averaged 4.5 points and 3.3 rebounds.
