JuJu Watkins, Avery Howell and Talia von Oelhoffen have their sights set on bringing glory to the USC Trojans in the 2024-25 season along with their teammates. Watkins and Howell didn't shy away from giving fans a glimpse into their preparations, giving a sneak peek into their shooting drills.
A few hours ago, Watkins shared Howell's story on her Instagram, which featured a post from the official USC Trojans account. The Trojans' post featured moments from the team's training drills, including a shot of Watkins, Howell and von Oelhoffen practicing their shooting across the court.
They looked impressive in their drills, making every shot they attempted. Freshman Howell's confidence in the trio was through the roof, which she expressed on her Instagram story with a simple quote.
"Did we miss?" said Howell.
JuJu Watkins had an impressive freshman season in 2024-25
JuJu Watkins enjoyed one of the strongest freshman seasons in NCAA women's basketball history. In 24 games, she averaged 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.6 blocks. Her performances helped the Trojans make the Elite Eight in the 2023-24 seasons and won the National Freshman of the Year Award.
Watkins looks set to produce an incredible sophomore season in 2024-25 as the Trojans embark on their first season in the Big Ten. With this massive change, the Trojans have ensured that Watkins has the help she needs by making some strategic moves in the offseason.
Howell was one of the top players in high school basketball last season. Along with being an alternate for Canada's Olympic team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, she won the Gatorade Idaho State Player of the Year twice while representing Boise High School.
Talia von Oelhoffen was one of the Oregon State Beavers' top players in the 2023-24 college basketball season. She averaged 10.7 ppg and 5.0 apg and earned All-Pac 12 Team honors before transferring to the Trojans for the 2024-25 season.
Coach Lindsey Gottlieb has all the tools to lead the Trojans to incredible success in the 2024-25 season. While the regular season schedule is yet to be released, the Trojans confirmed they will host nine teams at the Galen Center. They will face the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Wisconsin Badgers for the first time in program history.
