Haley Cavinder garnered plenty of attention for a certain action she did towards the Indiana Hoosiers crowd during the second round of the 2023 NCAA tournament. She reflected on it and said that her behavior is usually different.
During an interview with Bleacher Report in March 2023, Cavinder was asked about her decision to shush the opposing crowd. In that game, she finished with nine points and eight rebounds on 3 of 8 shooting to help No. 9-ranked Miami beat No. 1-ranked Indiana.
"Usually, I don't react to the students or people saying stuff to me, like on the court when people should, like, talk trash," Cavinder said. "I'm just like, I'm not giving these people a reaction but for some reason, the referees had to go to the monitor to, like, look at the clock and stuff, and so that allowed the students to start chanting, like, 'stick to TikTok' super loud, which is funny, because I think that's like all part of the game. I'm just glad we won."
