Cameron Boozer and his brother Cayden Boozer led the Nightrydas Elite to a 71-62 victory over the AJ Dybantsa-led Oakland Soldiers on Sunday at Nike’s Peach Jam. Cameron finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists while going 7 for 8 from the floor.
This was Nightrydas Elite's third consecutive championship win in the EYBL circuit. In the postgame interview, the 6-foot-9 power forward said:
"This group has been together a long time and our goal, always, is to win. I'm so proud of my teammates. Everyone chipped in and we played our a*ses off.
"If you want to win, you have to get the entire team involved. It's not just about you. I know they were trying to play me tight, and I knew guys coming off screens were going to be open because of the spacing."
The Boozer twins have taken over recruitment conversations with their incredible performances this summer. The incoming seniors have won three straight Florida state championships with their Columbus High School team.
Besides their AAU and high school careers, the Boozer twins also had successful international careers. Most recently, they won gold with Team USA in the U17 FIBA World Cup. Cameron Boozer was named TISSOT Most Valuable Player as he averaged 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.7 steals.
With impressive performances, college offers pile up for the Boozer twins
Both Cameron and Cayden Boozer have received offers from major programs like Duke, Kentucky, Florida, Miami, North Carolina, Arkansas and Michigan. The twins had taken official visits to Miami, Florida, Kentucky and Duke last year but have yet to announce their final decisions.
Cameron Boozer, the No. 2 recruit (per 247Sports), spoke about his visits in an interview with Zagsblog. About UNC, he said:
"It’s how hard they play, how great their defense is. Another school that’s one of the most winningest schools in college. Things like that. (Hubert Davis) is a great guy. He really gets his players to get after it, compete every night. That’s what made them so good this year. So that’s probably the main thing."
The Tar Heels are reported to be the most aggressive in their pursuit of the power forward. While they have received offers from the same schools, the Boozer twins are not banking on the idea of playing together in college as well.
“We have definitely thought about it," Cayden Boozer said (via On3). "It would be really good to play with each other since we’ve played with each other our whole lives. But the colleges might not have the fit for both of us. It’s something we’ve thought about, but we will just take it all as it comes.
“I want the school to have a good fit for me where I can play my position and my game.”
