Former Iowa stars Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, alongside other Hawkeyes players, were at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday. Iowa football invited last season's Iowa Final Four team to Saturday's game against Northwestern to honor their accomplishments.

After a sensational rookie season in the WNBA, Clark finally had time to return to the University of Iowa, where she first rose to fame.

On Saturday, the Hawkeyes celebrated their women’s basketball team on the field during a timeout. Caitlin Clark was joined by former teammates Gabbie Marshall, Kate Martin, Jada Gyamfi, Monika Czinano and others.

Iowa shared a video on Instagram showing the team's warm reception by the crowd as the players were announced and took to the field to tremendous applause.

"The Best Tradition," the caption read.

In a short interview at the event, Clark was asked what it was like to play against her friend Martin in the WNBA this season.

"Well, minus the four times I lost to Kate, pretty good," she said. "But it was fun ... getting to see Kate do it as well, after being pretty under the radar, is fun with one of my best friends."

Iowa's team led by Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin lost only five games in all competitions last campaign. They secured the Big Ten Tournament win, defeating Nebraska in the championship game. Clark had 34 points and 12 assists in that game.

In the NCAA Tournament, the Hawkeyes advanced to the national championship, defeating Colorado, Angel Reese's LSU, and Paige Bueckers' UConn before eventually failing to South Carolina.

With coach Lisa Bluder, Clark, Martin and others leaving, the team will have a fresh look in the upcoming season. Jan Jensen will be leading them as the new coach.

Caitlin Clark visits Iowa's practice facility on her homecoming return

Caitlin Clark, the WNBA Rookie of the Year, graced the hardwood of Iowa's practice facility and Carver-Hawkeye Arena once again as the Hawkeyes welcomed former players back to the campus over the weekend.

Clark, Martin and Marshall stopped by the team's facility and participated in practice with the current squad as they reconnected with their former coaches and teammates.

The video posted on X by Iowa shows Clark getting excited when the Hawkeyes score on a great play. She runs onto the court, and all the other Hawkeyes players share a laugh.

Clark and other members of the previous season's squad were also presented with rings commemorating their 2023-24 success — one ring for reaching the Final Four and another for clinching the Big Ten Tournament trophy.
