Shelomi Sanders took a massive step in her college basketball career, transferring from Colorado to Alabama A&M for the 2024-25 season, in April. In the process, she left behind her family, who have taken a liking to Colorado with her Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders, serving as CU's football coach.

On Sunday, Shelomi, the youngest child of the Sanders family, expressed her joy in reuniting with her mother, Pilar Sanders, amid a hectic women's college basketball season. The junior guard shared their special moment with over 235,000 on TikTok on Monday, writing they had not seen each other in the last three months.

In the six-second video, Shelomi sported a black hoodie, while her mother, Pilar, sported a white one when they visited a supermarket. They gave big smiles while enacting a viral trend on TikTok called "My Shayla," which originates from 'Fast and Furious' star Tyrese Gibson's infamous words for his then-10-year-old daughter during an Instagram live session in November 2017. The video has garnered over 1,000 likes in just over 24 hours.

Why did Shelomi Sanders leave Colorado?

Shelomi Sanders endured a difficult sophomore season at Colorado, with Buffaloes coach JR Payne giving her little game time on a senior-dominated team that reached the Sweet 16. After appearing in just five games last season, she entered the transfer portal and later committed to Alabama A&M.

In an Instagram live session in August, Sanders talked about the mental pressure that built up during her time at Colorado that led her to make the move to another program.

"For me, I would say, yeah, last year during the beginning where I just came home sad every day," Sanders said. "I was sad and mad like every day. That and when I was at Jackson (State). Like, if I didn't leave when I did, I promise you I would have quit."

Shelomi Sanders' decision to leave Colorado was met with heavy criticism from her father, Deion Sanders. In an appearance on "DNVR BUFFS LIVE," Coach Prime expressed his concerns with his daughter's decision, believing it wouldn't be what was best for her.

Although Sanders has been given the opportunity to make a fresh start at Alabama A&M, she hasn't made a big impression at her new home. Across 11 appearances, she has averaged 1.3 points and 0.3 rebounds.
