Shelomi Sanders, who announced her transfer to Alabama A&M for the upcoming season, is enjoying her offseason by creating TikTok videos with her mother, Pilar Sanders. The guard joined the trend of people recreating model Kendall Jenner's viral but unconventional cucumber-cutting method, which went viral a few years ago.
Shelomi and her mother put their acting chops to the best use as they recreated the scene perfectly.
Here is the video:
Shelomi Sanders reposted the video to her Instagram story on Monday, tagging her mother.
After one year with the Colorado Buffaloes, where she saw little to no action on the court, Shelomi Sanders transferred to Alabama A&M ahead of this season. However, her father, Deion Sanders, called it a "stupid decision." Meanwhile, Pilar supported the guard in her choice.
Shelomi Sanders explains the reason behind her move from Colorado
Shelomi Sanders initially committed to Jackson State. However, she transferred to Colorado when her father, Coach Prime, took the job as the head coach of the football program.
She played five games with the Buffaloes and averaged 1.8 minutes of game time with 0.6 points and 0.6 rebounds. At the time of transfer, she did not explain the motive behind her move. However, in an Instagram live on August 11, she detailed the reasons for the transfer.
“For me, I would say, yeah, last year during the beginning where I just came home sad every day,” she said. "I was sad and mad like every day. That and when I was at Jackson, like if I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would have quit.”
While she did not have anything bad to say about the Buffaloes program, she did add:
"It just wasn't good energy, wasn't good vibes, wasn't enough being poured into me as a player... it was just bad. But I'm good now."
On the other hand, Alabama A&M seems to be excited at the prospect of the guard joining them. Coach Dawn Thornton said in the interview with Clarion Ledger:
"Shelomi is just what we need on 'The Hill.' Not only does she want to make a name for herself, but we also have the platform and the resources for her to do it."
