Flau'jae Johnson supported the LSU Tigers as they took on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday for ESPN's College GameDay. The LSU guard was calling the All Knighters vs. Double Dynasty OT Select game but was seen peeking into her phone, which had the football game running. The Tigers won the game 36-33.
Johnson's podcast account, Best of Both Worlds, shared the video on Instagram with the caption:
"NOBODY is a better multitasker than Big 4."
Johnson's loyalty to the LSU Tigers runs deep. She referred to LSU legends Shaquille O'Neal, Angel Reese and Joe Burrow in her latest song, Came Out a Beast, featuring Lil Wayne. She also attended the Tigers' game against Nicholls State last week.
The guard's love for LSU is understandable, as it was the only school that gave her the space to pursue her music career while still playing basketball. In an interview with USA Today in April, Johnson shared details from her recruitment process.
"When I was getting recruited, a lot of teams kept asking me, ‘Which one do you wanna do?’ And I’d be like, ‘I wanna do both,’" Flau'jae said. "And they wouldn’t understand me so I was like, I’ll just do music (and quit basketball)."
"I was already making money, already buzzing. But then I found a place (LSU) that really understood my vision and just allowed me to be myself while playing the sport I love."
Flau'jae Johnson shares her candid advice on NIL partnerships
With a Name, Image and Likeness valuation of $1.3 million, Flau'jae Johnson is second on On3's NIL ranking after Paige Bueckers ($1.4 million). He spoke about the importance of NIL during an appearance at SiriusXM SEC Radio on Thursday.
"This is what I always tell people. They think like, 'Oh my gosh, you’re getting all these NIL deals. You’re getting all this money,'" Flau'jae said. "But if I wasn’t doing somewhat good on the court, that wouldn’t be a thing."
"At the end of the day, they still want to sponsor me because I’m a good athlete and we win. So I think you have to win to get the best deals. We won the national championship—the best deals of my life. Because we had so much exposure. I think you have to keep the main thing the main thing. You focus on that, and then everything else just seems to fall in line."
Johnson has two more years in college before she moves to the WNBA. Until then, she is set to capitalize on her NIL to grow her brand profile and business prospects.
