The Duke Blue Devils star Kyle Filipowski was supposed to be a first-round 2024 NBA Draft pick as per several analysts and mock drafts. He even received an invitation to attend the draft with his family from the green room.
However, as fans now know, he was unfortunately not picked by any teams on the first night of the event. This made him one of the two players who were left unpicked in the green room by the end of the night.
After an unexpected end to Wednesday night, a reporter caught a video of Filipowski and his fiancée, Caitlin Hutchison backstage. In the video, Hutchison can be seen consoling Kyle Filipowski.
Fans were sympathetic to the couple and left encouraging messages for them.
"The hardest thing about this new two day model. He’ll get drafted and hopefully use this as motivation but man it must be a tough ride home," an X user wrote.
"Don’t worry bro gon get picked by the lakers," wrote another fan.
"He is going to be all right. He will get picked high in the second round," a fan put out a consolatory message.
The Barclays Center will be available for the second round of the draft and fans will hope to hear his name called high.

Kyle Filipowski and Caitlin Hutchison announced in April that they were engaged to be married. In a series of black-and-white pictures, the couple posed alongside each other, giving a clear look of their dazzling radiant-cut engagement ring.
Hutchison attended James Clemens High School in Madison, Alabama. There, she played on the Jets' girls lacrosse team. Caitlin has a Bachelor's degree in Education, Kinesiology, and Exercise Science and Health Promotion. She also got her Master of Business Administration from LSU Shreveport in 2022.
Although it is not known how the two met, the couple posed together in 2022 for Kyle Filipowski's prom.
Since then, she has been spotted at Duke's games, supporting her fiance, as she did on Wednesday also.
