While Flau'jae Johnson posted her best game of 2025, one brief moment stood out as a highlight of the night. Johnson's quick handles and slippery offense were momentarily neutralized by the No. 16 Tennessee Lady Volunteers' Talaysia Cooper.

Johnson rejected a screen by Aneesah Morrow to get past Jewel Spear and find an open lane to the basket. However, Cooper timed her rotation and contested the at the basket. Even though Johnson saw it coming, Cooper hung in the air long enough to block the LSU guard's double pump.

Flau'jae Johnson lost her balance upon landing and fell on the court. MarchMadnessWBB shared the moment on X, writing:

"Monster block 😤🫣."

Flau'jae Johnson had the last laugh as the Tigers won the close contest (89-87), pushing LSU's undefeated record to 18-0 (3-0 in SEC). She also returned the block by Talaysia Cooper, swatting her in the second quarter.

The guard also made key plays towards the end. Johnson converted an and-1 with 2:07 remaining on the game clock, reclaiming the lead (85-84). She then assisted Mikaylah Williams for a layup before a wild shot by Kailyn Gilbert sealed the game.

Johnson finished the contest with 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists on 40.9% shooting. Kailyn Gilbert added 22 points by making 9 of 17 shots while Aneesah Morrow posted a team-high 23 points and 21 rebounds. Talaysia Cooper's 24 points and Jewel Spear's 25 points spearheaded Tennessee.

Kim Mulkey commends Flau'jae Johnson for defending Talaysia Cooper

Kim Mulkey deployed a small-ball lineup in LSU's second-ranked game of the season to reduce mismatches, leverage speed, control spacing, and find driving lanes. As a result, the Tigers had 34 points off fastbreak and 60 in the paint. Tennessee was outscored by nine points in transition and by 30 near the basket.

Even though the game came down to the last possession, Kim Mulkey commended her squad for their effort. Moreover, she praised Flau'jae Johnson for defending Talaysia Cooper throughout the contest at the post-game conference.

"Well, she shot it 23 times, four turnovers, that's about as good as we can guard," Mulkey said (2:00). "I thought Flau'jae did tremendous on her. That's who was assigned to her."
