Fans react to potential Bronny James rumors being "entrenched" to Lakers with No. 55 pick

Basketball fans believe Bronny James could go undrafted ahead of this week's NBA draft. James decided to remain in the draft after one year at USC, which did surprise some people.

In the lead-up to the draft, James has been linked to the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. While he only had workouts with those teams, HoopsHype reporter and NBA insider Michael Scotto has James mocked to the Lakers at 55th overall in his latest draft.

"Bronny James is entrenched to the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 overall selection," Scotto wrote. "James has a strong physique and is more athletic than the average point guard. He can hit NBA three-pointers. Defensively, he’s constantly engaged as a physical on-ball defender who creates steals as an off-ball defender."

After Scotto's report, college basketball fans had an interesting reaction to it.

"That is too high," a fan wrote.
"Watch him go undrafted," a fan wrote.

Other fans, meanwhile, are hoping another NBA team drafts James ahead of 55th overall to screw over the Lakers.

"Honestly, if I have pick 54, 53, or 52, I'm picking him just to piss the Lakers off. Teams usually waste this pick on someone who either never comes to the NBA from overseas or lives in the D league anyway," a fan wrote.
"Someone needs to troll and snag him unexpectedly," a fan added.

Meanwhile, other basketball fans are still surprised that James will even be drafted after his lackluster freshman season at USC.

"Dude can’t even get minutes on his college team," a fan added.
"Wish I could get drafted solely off my name," a fan wrote.

Entering the NBA draft this week, where James will be selected, is one of the more intriguing storylines of the entire draft.

Bronny James' college stats

Bronny James played just one year for the Trojans and struggled to have much of an impact at USC.

James suited up in 25 games, starting six as he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists. He shot 36.6% from the field and just 67.6% from free throw.

Despite the underwhelming stats, James decided to remain in the NBA draft after reportedly having a solid scouting combine. He also entered the NCAA transfer portal, so should a move to the big league not come to fruition, he could still move to a new school.

However, if Bronny James does get selected in the 2024 draft, whether or not he will get much play time in the NBA as a rookie is to be seen.
