The No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs, led by Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince, secured a dominant 69-43 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday night. It marked their first road win against the Lady Raiders in six years.
Following the game, the Horned Frogs celebrated their gritty win in style. A video shared by TCU Women’s Basketball on Twitter captured the players, staff and coaches in high spirits as they danced and jumped in the locker room. The post was captioned:
"Riff Ram Road Win"
Van Lith finished with 22 points, seven assists and an 8-of-9 performance from the free-throw line. Prince delivered 20 points and 10 rebounds while going 10-of-15 from the field. Madison Conner added firepower from beyond the arc, hitting four three-pointers and finishing with 13 points.
For Texas Tech, Bailey Maupin led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds. Despite making all 10 of her free-throw attempts, she struggled from the field, shooting 6-25, reflecting the team’s offensive difficulties. The Lady Raiders have now dropped four straight games, falling to 12-6 overall and 1-4 in Big 12 play.
TCU's Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince dominated the second quarter
Fueled by Hailey Van Lith, the Horned Frogs seized control of the game in the second quarter. Van Lith scored 10 of TCU’s 16 points in the period, while the defense clamped down on Texas Tech, limiting them to just five points on 2-of-14 shooting. By halftime, TCU had established a 33-21 lead, creating a cushion that the Lady Raiders couldn’t overcome.
Though Texas Tech managed to stay competitive in the third quarter, their offensive woes resurfaced in the final period. The Lady Raiders shot just 1-of-13 in the fourth quarter, allowing TCU to outscore them 16-4 and coast to a comfortable victory.
This win also ended a long drought for TCU, whose last road triumph against Texas Tech came in Feb. 2019. On that occasion, the Horned Frogs overcame a 15-point deficit for a 70-63 win.
With Saturday’s victory, TCU extended their winning streak to eight games, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the Big 12. Looking ahead, TCU will return home to face UCF on Tuesday, aiming to maintain their momentum and continue their strong season. Despite Maupin’s best efforts, the Lady Raiders’ offensive inconsistencies were glaring, as they shot just 25% from the field.
