AJ Dybantsa is on his official visit trail, dropping by the seven schools he picked in August. After Kansas State last weekend, Dybantsa was in Allen Fieldhouse catching up with the Jayhawks.
The small forward received a grand welcome as Kansas went as far as creating a custom sign at the facility, welcoming him. Basketball Insider Adam Zagoria shared this on X and wrote:
"AJ Dybantsa is on his official to @KUHoops and gets greeted with a huge 'Welcome AJ Dybantsa' sign at famed Allen Fieldhouse @ADybantsa @UtahPrepMBB"
AJ Dybantsa has been one of the most heavily recruited prospects from the 2025 class and he received scholarship offers from 30 schools. He narrowed the list to seven in early August. The list included Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State and North Carolina.
During an interview with ESPN, the forward spoke briefly about each of his choices.
"When I look at their history, they also have a track record of guys in my position in the NBA," Dybantsa said about Kansas. "I talked to Bill Self and coach Kurtis Townsend. Coach Townsend has come to Prolific Prep a few times.
"They had Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre and Josh Jackson. They have had great runs of success. They say it's loud in there [at Phog Allen Fieldhouse]."
AJ Dybantsa reveals the three categories based on which he will choose his school
AJ Dybantsa is in his final high school year and he has moved from Prolific Prep in California to Utah Prep. Setting a potential final reveal date in February next year, the forward shared the three important criteria for choosing a college.
“One is family-orientated,” he told KSLSports.com. “I’m going to be away from my family. Two is the development. Obviously, I want to be a one-and-done. And three is just a winning program. I want to be there hopefully for only one year so winning a National Championship is my goal.”
His father, Anicet "Ace" Dybantsa, has been involved in the recruitment process as the forward revealed that his initial list of top seven schools is based on the coaches who spoke with his father the most.
With his upcoming school visits, AJ Dybantsa will build a deeper relationship with each coach before his final decision.
