KiKi Iriafen tapped into her Nigerian heritage as she posted a video on Instagram on Monday dancing to Ashawo (Remix) by Nigerian singer Flavour. Joining the forward were senior center Clarice Akunwafo and freshman Vivian Iwuchukwu.

"Your fav Naija babes!! 🤭🇳🇬," the caption read.

Kiki Iriafen moved to USC for her senior season after three years with the Stanford Cardinal. She is averaging 18.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists this season, shooting 54.0%, including 40.0% from the 3-point range.

Iriafen is an important piece in Lindsay Gottlieb's roster as the seventh-ranked Trojans (10-1) attempt to win their first national championship since 1984. Her chemistry with star guard JuJu Watkins is crucial in this run, and Gottlieb spoke about it in an October interview.

“I think JuJu and Kiki fit great together ... a pick-and-roll threat, an inside-out threat," she said. "Kiki is also really versatile where she’s stretching her game and playing on the perimeter, and she’s a good passer. That creates more space where maybe I can post JuJu up a little bit more, get her more in space.”

Kiki Iriafen and the USC Trojans bounce back to winning ways

After a four-game winning streak start, the Trojans lost their first major game against then-No. 6 Notre Dame before Thanksgiving. However, since then, they are back to winning, with six straight victories, including blowout wins over Fresno State and Elon.

When commenting about the bounce back, Kiki Iriafen said:

“I think I’m just a lot more comfortable in what our coaches are trying to have us do and what USC is all about. It’s just me settling in a lot more. I think, for me, rebounding is the easiest way for me to kind of get on the glass. It’s kind of hard for me to make a move because I’m being double- or triple-teamed.
"So, I think just being an offensive rebounder, defensive rebounder, with Rayah (Marshall) as well, is the best way I can help my team right now. And then just let the game come to me.”

USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb also spoke on working out strategies that flow better with Kiki Iriafen and JuJu Watkins on the court.

“We’ve worked on it, we’ve talked about it and I think you’re seeing it come together. And a lot of it is, we’re learning to make reads,” Gottlieb said.
“We have two players in particular, with Kiki and JuJu, where there’s always going to be two or three people. And so, it’s figuring out how to get them good looks, but also playing off of that. I think when that ball moves and flows, we’re harder to guard.”

The USC Trojans have another heavyweight game coming up on Saturday against the No. 4 UConn Huskies, one of their biggest threats to the national championship run.
