LSU coach Kim Mulkey made a rare WNBA appearance on June 6 when her former Tigers player Angel Reese led the Chicago Sky to a 79-71 win against the Washington Mystics.

Mulkey also attended the Connecticut Suns' 85-67 triumph over the Dallas Wings on Saturday to watch her former Baylor Bears players DiJonai Carrington and Kalani Brown battle it out.

The official WNBA Instagram account shared a clip from the end of the game when Mulkey, Carrington and Brown embraced and took pictures together, captioning it:

"The love is real @coachkimmulkey pulled up to Dallas to support her former players, DiJonai Carrington and Kalani Brown!"

Kim Mulkey and Angel Reese present united front despite controversial story

During Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers' quest for a repeat national championship in March, there was a scandal over a Washington Post article that was supposed to be a tell-all piece about the controversial coach.

USA Today obtained documents from the story draft that stated that Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese was involved in a fight in the LSU locker room during which Mulkey then held a tense team meeting.

Since Reese was inexplicably absent for a highly charged few weeks last year, during which speculation ran rampant, the story from USA Today could finally explain the absence.

Despite their often rocky history and the new information about her absence coming to light, during an interview with CBS Sports, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese credited Mulkey for her instant adaptation to the WNBA.

"Kim Mulkey kind of prepared me for this moment," Reese said. "At LSU, our practice was like four hours. We were ready, we were working. I thought training was going to be harder. I think I was really prepared. I didn't have any WNBA surprises yet.

"It was tough for me to leave LSU, but she talked to (head coach Teresa Weatherspoon) and she trusted T-Spoon with me. She knows it's the same. (Weatherspoon) expects a lot out of me. I'm just happy Mulkey loves me, supports me. I want people to realize Kim Mulkey loves you off the court too and she'll support you no matter what. She is like a mother to me."

Coach Kim Mulkey has had several run-ins with some players in her teams in the past, tinged with moments of controversy over her long career, but her relationship with Angel Reese at least seems to be rock solid despite the outside speculation.
