"I love our culture," Johnson said. "I love the fact that we influence so many other people. It's your girl Flau'jae, and I am excited to be a part of the first-ever BET Culture Class. It's amazing because I've been working, doing music and basketball.
"What I look forward to most in the BET Awards is the lifetime achievement, I love when they celebrate black moguls in the industry, give them their flowers."

Flau'jae Johnson has also been nominated alongside former LSU teammate Angel Reese for Sportswoman of the Year at the BET Awards. Alongside her is a stellar cast of stars including Sha’Carri Richardson (a former LSU track and field standout), A’ja Wilson, Coco Gauff, JuJu Watkins, Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles.

Flau'jae Johnson scales up her rap career

Flau'jae Johnson has scaled up her rap career during the basketball offseason, including the release of her album and attending the JBL Fest in Soho a few weeks ago. She also partnered with JBL to promote its new Partybox Series.

During an interview with the Huffington Post, Johnson discussed the natural progression of her career as a rapper going through growing pains even though she has done it for several years now.

“I’ve been doing music for so long, and I feel I kind of been a little professional at it for a while,” she said. “That’s where my journey is right now. I feel even though I’m just well established as a basketball player and as a brand and I’m getting there as an artist, I just want to make sure I do all the proper channels as a new artist to make sure I have a solid foundation, ’cause I want this to be a real career, not just a moment.
“I’ve loved combining my two talents. 'Best of Both Worlds' shows you don’t have to choose one path — you can excel in multiple arenas."

Flau'jae Johnson will have to find the perfect balance between her budding rap career. which has just gone up another level, and being the leader of the LSU Tigers now that former star Angel Reese has departed for the WNBA.
