Miami Hurricanes stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder enjoyed a great time despite Miami's 69-60 home loss to No. 17 North Carolina on Sunday. This was the Canes' second defeat of the season, coming off an exceptional outing at the Maui Invitational.
However, the Cavinder Twins put the loss behind them and enjoyed a lavish dinner, which they posted on their Instagram story on Monday. In the post, Haley and Hanna shared a couple of the dishes they enjoyed and then a video of themselves dressed in shimmery gold dresses as they held hands, blew each other a kiss and faced the camera smiling.
Haley and Hanna Cavinder share "twin magic" in Miami's loss to UNC
Although the Miami Hurricanes (11-2, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) suffered a defeat to UNC (13-2, 1-1) on Sunday, Haley Cavinder posted a 19-point and 11-rebound double-double, while Hanna had eight points and four assists.
After the game, the twins posted a brief montage of their performance, showcasing their connection on the court in a TikTok post which they shared on Monday.
"Twin magic," they captioned the video.
The matchup against the Tar Heels was the Hurricanes’ first game against a ranked opponent this season. Miami shot 39.1%, including just 20.7% from 3-point range. The Hurricanes also committed 15 turnovers, compared to North Carolina’s four.
“You can’t win ball games vs. that quality of team with 15 turnovers,” Haley Cavinder, who committed six turnovers, said. “I need to focus on taking care of the ball.”
North Carolina led 21-14 entering the second quarter and extended its lead to as much as 17 points with 3:14 remaining in the first half. Miami was able to cut its deficit to 10 points, but the Canes' efforts were not enough.
“We’re this close to being as good as we want to be, and we just got to keep striving to get there," Miami coach Tricia Cullop said after the game.
Up next, Miami is on the road to face Louisville (8-5, 1-1), where Haley and Hanna will hope to start the new year with a win for the Canes on Thursday.
