Hanna and Haley Cavinder announced in April that they would return to college to play their fifth and final season of college basketball. After winning an exhibition game against PAU, the two started the regular season by defeating the Stetson Hatters 78-53 on Monday.

Hanna Cavinder’s connection to Haley gave the Hurricanes the first points. The two combined for 21 points and nine rebounds.

Before the game, the twin sisters cooled off the heat by sharing a TikTok video of themselves dancing. The caption of the post was:

“game day tik w twin.”

Natalija Marshall led Miami in rebounds with 12 while Cameron Williams contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Stetson struggled with fouls, allowing Miami to score 17 points on free throws.

The Miami Hurricanes are set to continue their season at the Jacksonville Dolphins on Monday.

Haley Cavinder talked about why she returned to college basketball

The Cavinder twins took a year-long hiatus from the college basketball scene because they wanted to focus on building their social media presence and also on their brand deals. During the offseason, the twin sisters launched their fitness brand called Twogether and became the co-founders of a beauty brand named Hustle Beauty.

Haley was set to play for the TCU Horned Frogs for the 2024-25 season but after Hanna announced that she would play for the Hurricanes, her twin sister ended up following her.

"I missed it," Haley said, according to USA Today. "I think that's inevitable to always miss your sport when you walk away from it. But having the what-if – like, what if I took my fifth year? I need to take my fifth year to know that I did it.
"I just missed it a ton. I'm such a competitive person, so just being able to have that feeling again is something I'm looking forward to."

Hanna and Haley Cavinder did not talk about their desire to play in the WNBA yet. Additionally, it is unclear if the twins want to enter the pros.
