Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo called in via a video chat to the Paul VI girls basketball team to reveal a gift that she sent to every player. In a video, she is shown chatting to the girls as they wait with bated breath to open their surprise gifts.

What Hidalgo got for the team was a pair of VKTRY Insoles, the viral insoles that help players jump higher and get more bounce in their game.

"I partnered up with VKTRY Insoles, and, you know, we just wanted to bless you guys with something to start off your season. So, yeah, you can go ahead and open it up," Hidalgo said over the video call.

Notre Dame wins despite missing Hannah Hidalgo due to injury

Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo missed her first game for the Fighting Irish on Sunday as they took on Clemson. Despite her absence, No. 3 Notre Dame secured a 67-58 road win, improving to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in ACC play.

Hidalgo, who wore a brace on her right ankle, did not participate in warmups.

A Notre Dame spokesperson released this statement:

"She rolled her ankle late in the last game (against Wake Forest), and we just want to give her a bit of extra rest to ensure she’s 100% for the rest of the season."
Coach Niele Ivey also added, "We’re being cautious. She rolled it on Thursday, so we’re giving her proper rest and will assess her this week."

Hidalgo has been a standout this season, averaging 25.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.1 steals per game, leading the nation in steals. Her play against top-ranked teams like USC, Texas and UConn has strengthened her case for National Player of the Year honors.

In Hidalgo’s absence, graduate senior Liatu King stepped up with a dominant performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, including 11 points in the fourth quarter. Clemson had closed the gap to 47-44 early in the final period before King’s efforts sealed the win.

Cassandre Prosper, starting in Hidalgo’s place, added six points and three rebounds, while Olivia Miles contributed 17 points and nine assists. Despite struggling from beyond the arc (3 of 14) and the free-throw line (14 of 20), the Irish managed to hold off Clemson’s late surge.

Notre Dame will go again on Thursday as it takes on No. 13 Georgia Tech. It's unclear if Hannah Hidalgo will be available for the game.
