Dawn Staley is the latest global basketball name to show support for the young hoopers participating in the 2024 Peach Jam. The annual event is the final extension of Nike's EYBL circuit and is regarded as one of the highest AAU-level tournaments in the nation.
Slam High School was one of the first outlets to report Dawn Staley's presence at Peach Jam during the final days of the competition. The South Carolina Gamecocks coach was sitting courtside as Expressions Elite mounted a 78-61 win over Team United on Thursday.
Sadiq White Jr. led Team United with 17 points on 8 of 14 shots. Kamari Cooke contributed seven points. For the Elite, Dwayne Aristode posted a game-high 18 points while making 6 of 10 shots. Four-star prospect Jaylen Harrell added a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Expressions Elite is one of the tournament's top teams, with a 3-1 record. On July 19, they will face a formidable JL3 team with an identical 3-1 Peach Jam record, led by 6-foot-8 four-star recruit Adam Tyson Jr. from the 2026 class.
South Carolina to honor Dawn Staley in August
Dawn Staley made history when her women's basketball roster clinched the NCAA title undefeated. They took down Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the finals. It was the program's third title since 2017, making it one of the most successful modern-day women's basketball schools in the nation.
The University of South Carolina has announced the third edition of the "Celebration of Dawn Staley" event, which honors Staley's storied stint with the Gamecocks. The coach will be joined by ABC's Robin Roberts as the two share stories about Staley's life.
Apart from honoring Staley, the objective of the fireside chat on August 13 will be to raise scholarship funds through the Staley Champions Fund program. The event will be held at the Pastides Alumni Center in Columbia and will begin at 6 pm.
The Champions Fund aids the economically struggling, under-represented and first-generation students alongside the student-athletes at USC by providing education expenses.
