UConn Huskies star Paige Bueckers has taken over as the undisputed leader in the Huskies dressing room after the departure of several senior teammates to the WNBA. In various interviews during the summer, she has outlined the new burden of responsibility placed on her shoulders.

She had fun, participating in a fun-filled Olympics-themed quiz and campus hunt regarding the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday. In an Instagram video posted on the UConn page, Bueckers was the first to accurately answer, which is the first time sport at this year's Olympics.

"Break dancing," Bueckers answered.

Paige Bueckers gears up for big season with UConn

After being named the Naismith Player of the Year in 2021, among a host of other personal accolades, Paige Bueckers had an injury-riddled college basketball career, getting two season-ending injuries before last season's comeback.

By the time she stepped back on the court, Bueckers found that she had been usurped by former Iowa Hawkeyes record-breaking star Caitlin Clark as the face of women's college basketball.

Next season, she will have to contend for the honor of the best player in college basketball once again with USC Trojans star turn JuJu Watkins and since it could be her last season in Storrs, it promises to be a big one for her.

Bueckers will also be under immense pressure to deliver the only thing missing from her resume: a national championship that would restore coach Geno Auriemma's team to former glory.

In an interview with "Her Campus," the UConn star outlined her goals for the upcoming season.

“I know it could be my last season, so I just [want to] embrace that and just have so much fun,” Bueckers said.
“I love playing at UConn. The environment, the fans who show up to every single game — it’s crazy. I have nothing to sulk and be sad about, I just want to have fun with all my teammates and the coaching staff. I want to soak in it and embrace it. I have so much gratitude to be able to be a part of something so amazing.”

Paige Bueckers is being tabbed as a potential repeat Naismith Player of the Year winner for the 2024-2025 season but she will have stiff competition for the honor. A stellar season could also go a long way towards boosting her 2025 WNBA Draft stock.
