The UConn Huskies women's basketball team began its summer training session for the 2024-25 season on May 30. Big East Player of the Year Paige Bueckers returned to the team for workouts, choosing not to enter the WNBA draft despite being projected as a top-three pick.
Bueckers and her teammate, Kamorea "KK" Arnold, have been getting along great recently, often sharing snaps of themselves on social media. Arnold, as usual, was streaming live when Paige, who was in the background, approached the camera to ask Arnold for an edit.
The Overtime WBB Instagram account shared the clip with a caption:
"KK & Paige really crack me up y’all."
UConn sophomore guard Arnold frequently livestreams from the team's locker room and training center to provide updates to fans. In the next video, KK hilariously showed a cookie box consisting of four varieties of cookies and named all of them.
Paige Bueckers and Kamorea Arnold's friendship
UConn stars Paige Bueckers and Kamorea Arnold have developed a close friendship both on and off the court. Arnold joined the Huskies before the start of the 2023-24 season. The 5-foot-9 guard, who went to Germantown High in Wisconsin, totaled 2,458 points, 765 rebounds and 695 assists throughout her high school career.
Ranked No. 6 in ESPN's 2023 class, Arnold committed to Connecticut in November 2021. She debuted in 2023, posting averages of 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 steals per game during her freshman year.
The same season, Bueckers had a breakout as she averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Paige and Kamorea's chemistry blossomed on the court and gradually transcended into off-court as well.
On May 31, Arnold posted a short video on TikTok of her and Paige dancing.
"Making the dance viral," Arnold captioned the video.
With Bueckers likely bound for the WNBA next year, Arnold is poised to step into the spotlight and carry on the legacy of excellence at UConn.
Paige Bueckers is eyeing her first national championship
Even though Paige Bueckers has achieved every success at the personal level in college basketball, she has yet to win the NCAA championship.
Bueckers was among the top three projected picks in the 2024 WNBA draft, but she decided to return to UConn for one more year. The goal is clear: She wants to win the national title.
Nicknamed "Paige Buckets," she missed the entire 2022-23 season due to an ACL injury. Bueckers returned next season, earning unanimous first-team All-American honors for the second time and guiding the Huskies to the Final Four of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
