Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd were in New York last weekend and attended the U.S. Open, New York Fashion Week, the Liberty vs. Aces game and an Usher concert together. While backstage at the concert, they played a game of "this or that." The video was posted by the Barclays Center, the venue for the show.
The questions first began with the two guards picking between a bagel and a pizza. While Bueckers admitted that she loved a good bagel, she agreed with Fudd on a pizza.
The dilemma next began when Bueckers had to choose one TV show: Scandal or Grey's Anatomy. While she was not happy with the question, the guard eventually settled with Grey's Anatomy, while Fudd chose Scandal. Both players chose a book over a movie adaptation and picked a soft cover, as it's easier to pack.
The questions turned to basketball, and they were asked to choose between a game-winning 3-pointer or a game-saving block. Bueckers chose the first and when Fudd hesitated to answer, she said:
"Don't even. Don't even act like you're gonna contemplate this answer."
Fudd laughed and replied:
"I mean, a block would be pretty cool. Unrealistic for me, but it would be really cool"
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd take over US Open
Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd went viral on social media as they attended the US Open together, supporting American tennis players Frances Tiafoe and Coco Gauff. Both players failed to make it through to the final rounds — Tiafoe exited at the semifinal stage and Gauff in the round of 16.
Bueckers and Fudd were in the VIP Box during Gauff's third round against Elina Svitolina, and the tennis star commented on their support after the win.
"Paige and Azzi, I've known them on social media for a while. I think I got some of the good vibes from them to help me back me through," Gauff said.
"I saw Paige and both of them standing up getting out of their seats. So it was great to have that support, and hopefully I can return the favor at one of their games."
Bueckers and Fudd are now back in Storrs for their graduate program classes while also preparing for their final college season with the UConn Huskies.
After missing out last season due to a medial meniscal tear and an ACL tear, Fudd is back on court and is set to be Bueckers' biggest asset on the run to the NCAA championship.
