UNC’s Ian Jackson stole the spotlight in an exhibition game against Johnson C. Smith on Sunday afternoon. The 6-foot-4 guard was aggressive from the get-go, constantly penetrating the defense and punishing Johnson at the rim. However, as the freshman led with a game-high 21 points, the highlight of his night was a poster on Golden Bulls senior Javon Anderson that he almost pulled off.

The incident came at the start of the second quarter, a minute after Ian Jackson had found his first slam of the game. Sparked by an outlet pass from RJ Davis, Jackson found himself in a perfect position to pull off a Ja Morant-esque slam over Anderson.

He couldn't finish the dunk, though, as he headed for the charity stripes, as the Johnson C. Smith guard was called for a foul. The crowd, Tar Heels bench and even commentators erupted in a mix of gasps and cheers behind Jackson's relentless play.

Moments after the play, Ian Jackson stripped forward Ashton Sherrell off the ball and measured the open court for a thunderous windmill slam.

Jackson, who aggressively drove to the basket, made 60% of his shots (6-10) while converting 8-10 attempts from the free throw line.

Ian Jackson chose UNC over schools like Kentucky and Arkansas due to Hubert Davis and comes to North Carolina as the highest-ranked player in Davis' Chapel Hill tenure.

Ian Jackson is at his best in the open court

The freshman guard was in an attack mode throughout the exhibition game, which is exactly what he does best. Even when his quickness might not do it, the Bronx native has plenty of tricks in his bag to get past defenders and pressurize the front court.

A key moment came in the previous exhibition game against the Memphis Tigers, where Jackson was unable to score a point. Interestingly, all of his shots were from the 3-point line, resulting in a 0-4 effort.

The Tar Heels begin their season on Nov. 5 against Elon Phoenix. They then play the top team in the AP preseason poll on Nov. 9, the Kansas Jayhawks.
