The Cavinder Twins, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, are arguably the most popular athletes in women's college basketball today. During their journey to immense stardom, they have endured some major struggles along the way, one of which they were keen to share with their fans on social media.
On Friday, the twins took to Instagram to speak to over 300,000 of their followers on the social media platform while simultaneously spreading awareness about their fitness app, Twogether. While flaunting their physiques, they opened up about their eating disorders, emphasizing the importance of food in achieving peak fitness.
"Our journey with food was not linear," the Cavinder twins wrote. "We both struggled with an eating disorder, body dysphoria, and the need to burn as many calories as we could. Over the last couple of years, we have learned that less is more. Listen to your body!!! Food is fuel and recovery is just as important."
Haley and Hanna Cavinder added that they are prioritizing nutrition in their chase to maintain their fitness long-term.
"Approaching nutrition as a long-lasting balance to a healthy lifestyle is what we are chasing now. Understanding that restriction creates stress and anxiety, which puts you in an ongoing battle with food!! Long-term goals = long-lasting success," they added.
The twins ended the post by mentioning their Twogether app, which they launched on May 13, 2024. The app gives its users access to customized plans, workout guides and recipes focused on giving them high amounts of protein intake.
Cavinder twins enjoy strong return to college basketball
The twins retired from college basketball after leading the Miami Hurricanes to the Elite Eight in the 2022-23 season, its best-ever finish in program history. Following Hanna Cavinder's decision to return to Miami for the 2024-25 season last April, Haley, who initially committed to TCU, decomitted from the Horned Frogs to join her twin sister at Coral Gables.
Haley and Hanna Cavinder have made strong starts to their final season of eligibility, powering the Hurricanes to 11 wins in 15 games so far. Across those games, Haley has averaged 17.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists, while Hanna has 7.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 3.9 apg.
The Hurricanes are currently enduring a slump, having lost their last three games of conference play in succession. They will be keen to turn things around on Sunday when they face the Syracuse Orange at JMA Wireless Dome in New York at 6:00 p.m. ET.
