Jaxson Robinson is tired of people calling the Kentucky Wildcats soft. He shut down those allegations during a postgame chat with reporters following Kentucky's 81-69 win over the Texas A&M Aggies at Rupp Arena on Tuesday.
Robinson led Kentucky in scoring for the second straight game, recording 22 points on 8-for-17 shooting. Most of his points came from beyond the arc, with Robinson going 5-for-13 from the 3-point area against the Aggies. Robinson had a fiery reaction after firing a three-pointer in the first half to cut the Aggies' lead to 31-30, staring down his former coach, Buzz Williams, and the Texas A&M bench.
A reporter asked Robinson if he had noticed a different level of physicality from the Wildcats in their past two games against Mississippi State and Texas A&M following their loss to Georgia. The Kentucky star agreed with that observation and had some words for the Wildcats' critics.
"We’ve been hearing the soft word thrown around with this Kentucky jersey," Robinson said (Timestamp 12:55). "We take that personally. We don’t think people are saying that anymore. We went out and showed it the last two games."
Jaxson Robinson gets offensive help from Andrew Carr in win over Texas A&M
Jaxson Robinson came close to recording his first double-double of the season for No. 8 Kentucky, collecting eight rebounds in 34 minutes of action against No. 11 Texas A&M. Robinson has bounced back strongly after a disappointing five-point showing against Georgia, averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his last two games.
It wasn't just Robinson who dazzled against the Aggies' defense as two other Kentucky players scored in double figures. Andrew Carr recorded 13 points, four rebounds and one assist for the Wildcats, who improved their overall record to 14-3. He shot 6-for-9 from the field and knocked down his lone free-throw attempt.
Otega Oweh added 11 points on 2-for-5 shooting. He made a living at the charity stripe, going 7-for-10 from the free-throw line. Travis Perry was a surprise package for Pope, scoring two huge 3-pointers at the start of the second half to help Kentucky create some separation from Texas A&M. He finished the game with six points and one steal.
