Kate Martin and Caitlin Clark deployed a series of scary pranks during their Iowa Hawkeyes days, making their teammate Jada Gyamfi one of their victims. Martin and Gyamfi reminisced about the treasured memory on the "Fresh Tawk" podcast as the Los Vegas Aces rookie highlighted the details of her plan.
On an uneventful afternoon, Clark and Kate Martin headed to Walmart to hunt for scary costumes and props. With Kylie Feuerbach behind the camera, they tracked Jada Gyamfi's location and timely hid inside her place. Clark snuck inside her bedroom closet, whereas Martin hid in the kitchen, for an added layer of surprise.
"So we were bored and we went around in our apartment 'cause like everybody lived there, there's so many different teams that live there, and we know so many people in our apartment building, and we just went on a scaring frenzy," Martin said.
The trio hid for more than half an hour before Jada Gyamfi came to her room, and Clark was able to storm out of her closet to scare her.
"Caitlin slowly opens the door, Kylie's recording behind her, and she just pops out and scares Jada, I've never (seen) somebody's body shake like that, like from head to toe, you just like freaked out and screamed," Martin said.

As per their conversation, Jada Gyamfi was going through a tough day that night and had just come after attending a three-hour-long class.
Kate Martin believes scare pranks are one of the funniest antics, a claim solidified in the realistic animal costume she purchased in high school and bought to the Hawkeyes in her sophomore year. She still owns it and might use it to scare 2024 Paris Olympics women's basketball MVP A'ja Wilson next season.
Kate Martin was part of an unusual ritual with the Hawkeyes
With Caitlin Clark, Gabbie Marshall and Martin out of the Hawkeyes, Jada Gyamfi is one of the elder players in the program. With that, she claimed to be planning a lighthearted prank on the freshmen, ordering them to dress up for their first team dinner while the remaining players would come in sweatshirts.
This prompted Martin to share a ritual from her younger Hawkeyes days, where the seniors would instruct newcomers to perform a lap dance on a chair. Martin, being injured, utilized her unavailability to slide off the task.
