Angel Reese has been in the headlines after leading the LSU Tigers to their first women's NCAA championship. Reese is also known for wearing a sleeve on her left leg that covers it all. So, why does she cover just one leg?

In an interview with NOLA.com, Reese was asked why she wears the accessory. The 20-year-old forward revealed two reasons for wearing the leg sleeve — to cover up a scar and a tribute to her two favorite players.

"I had surgery two years ago on my shin," Reese said. "I have a rod in my leg. Many people don't know that. I cover the scar for one, then two players that I really admire, Te'a Cooper and A'ja Wilson, they also wear it, too. So it's swag, but I've used it to cover my scar."

Angel Reese revealed that she wears a leg sleeve to cover a scar on her shin, but what caused the scar? It was a Jones fracture Reese suffered during her freshman season with the Maryland Terrapins, as per the Washington Post.

It happened in just her fourth game of the season, when she landed awkwardly on her left foot. Reese had to undergo surgery to repair the fracture and was ruled out for three months. She played an additional 11 games for Maryland that season but came off the bench in all of them.

After two seasons with the Terrapins, Reese made the difficult decision to enter the transfer portal. She was born and raised in Maryland and was a known player from the DMV area. She ended up at LSU despite offers from South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee and USC.

Angel Reese stole the headlines following LSU's championship win on Sunday. Reese was criticized for taunting Iowa's star guard Caitlin Clark in the Tigers' 102-85 win. She has defended her actions, and other personalities have also defended her, including Shaquille O'Neal and Stephen A. Smith.

After giving a short answer to Reese's taunts after the game, Clark appeared on "Outside the Lines" on ESPN to discuss several things. One of the topics was Reese getting called out for taunting her despite Clark doing it first earlier in the tournament.

"That should never be torn down," Clark said. "That should never be criticized because I believe that's what makes this game so fun. That's what draws people to this game. That's what draws it to the pro level, to the college level, to the high school level."
