Former Kentucky star Malik Monk has shown his support for John Calipari. The Arkansas Razorbacks shocked the college hoops world after luring Calipari from Kentucky.

Malik Monk was born and raised in Arkansas and played basketball at their home court (Bud Walton Arena). Monk joined the University of Kentucky in 2016.

Monk took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that he would still be present at the Bud Walton Arena to support John Calipari. He played under Calipari for one season and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets as the 11th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. At Kentucky, Monk started 37 out of 38 games and averaged 19.8 points, 2.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 45% from the field (39.7% from beyond the arc).

John Calipari left Kentucky after spending 15 years. He had a 410-122 record and made four Final Four appearances, two national title game appearances, and one championship in 2012.

Furthermore, he also developed a plethora of NBA athletes, including 35 first-round picks and three players who went as the first overall pick in the NBA Draft: John Wall, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis.

John Calipari praised by other NBA players

Along with Malik Monk, there are a lot of NBA players who support Calipari. Many players coached by Calipari, including the NBA stars, complimented and congratulated him after his move.

Check out some reactions from NBA stars including DeMarcus Cousins, Karl-Anthony Towns and John Wall.

Karl-Anthony Towns, a four-time All-Star and the 2015-16 Rookie of the Year, penned an emotional letter for John Calipari:

"Gonna be weird not seeing you on the Kentucky sidelines, but thank you coach for helping me and my family achieve our dreams and giving us the best college experience. My Love for Kentucky and Coach Cal has and will continue to have no bounds"

While a move after 15 years could be difficult, Calipari is one of the most elite coaches in college basketball. In the interview with Don Patrick, Calipari stated that he wants to win more national championships.
