Haley Cavinder and her twin Hanna are back in Miami for their final college season. The sisters took a year off to focus on their business and other ventures, including a potential WWE debut, but chose to return for one more year of college hoops.

After three years at Fresno State, Hanna and Haley Cavinder transferred to Miami for their senior year in 2022-23 and led the Hurricanes on a historic Elite Eight run. This season, the Cavinder twins will look to lead Miami on another exceptional run.

The team's Instagram shared an image with the Cavinder twins as two of the captains for the 2024-25 season, along with Jasmyne Roberts, Natalija Marshall and Cameron Williams.

While Haley is happy to take charge, she did not like the photograph that was used for the poster. She commented:

While Hanna struggled with production in the 2022-23 season, Haley put up solid numbers, averaging 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists. She shot 40.7% from the floor, including 40.4 from 3-point range.

Haley was the first to choose a return to college basketball, and she committed to TCU Horned Frogs first in November 2024. However, with the return of her sister to Miami, Haley flipped her commitment, choosing to play with Hanna in their final college run.

Miami coach Tricia Cullop shares excitement in Haley Cavinder taking a leading role

After 19 seasons as the Miami Hurricanes coach, Katie Meier retired in March 2024. She was replaced by Tricia Cullop, who is excited to take Miami to greater heights. The Hurricanes struggled last season with a 19-12 overall record and an 8-10 conference record. They did not make it through to March Madness.

Coach Cullop revealed her plans with the Cavinder twins in an interview with the Miami Herald.

“I sat down, watched a lot of film, and it was a no-brainer,” she said. “They both are so talented, have great work ethic, they have a great history here. I’m thrilled to have both of them back. They were both part of the Elite Eight experience, and that’s a goal for us.
“They can show the rest of the players, 'This is how we do it'. They are two of the hardest workers I’ve ever been around. They’re in the gym at 6 or 6:30 in the morning and they’re leaders on the court.”
