Tulane coach Ashley Langford appeared to snub LSU coach Kim Mulkey ahead of the Nov. 21 matchup between the Green Wave and Tigers. Langford's snub did not go unnoticed by LSU star Flau'jae Johnson, who addressed the pregame incident.
During Monday's episode of Johnson's podcast, the LSU guard showed her displeasure at Langford after she appeared to snub Mulkey before the game.
“So yeah but you know it's crazy I just see someone Twitter,” Flua’jae said. "Coaches really come on and shake hands and the lady ain't shake coach Mulkey, you can't do that to the GOAT though. You got to pay your respect that's kind of crazy and cuz coach Mulkey was standing there for a lil bit. I’m like 'that was too lame’.”
LSU went on to win 85-74 with Johnson putting up 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists as the Tigers maintained their unbeaten record. Johnson has been with the Tigers since 2022, winning the NCAA national championship in 2023.
Mulkey's tinkering continues for LSU
Kim Mulkey has up to four players available to slot in as a starting guard for LSU but has yet to lock in on one. Mukley deployed her fourth different lineup this season on Wednesday against NC State and defended her decision to continue shuffling lineups.
"I'm not set on who is going to start. I'm going to play who I think can help us in that moment."
Kim Mulkey has been an admirer of Flau’Jae Johnson’s work ethic since her freshman year. The LSU coach has been left bewildered by the guard’s ability to balance everything happening in her life after recent performance.
“I just think Johnson has just this crazy work ethic,” Mulkey said. “This kid gets up at 5:00 in the morning, she has to go to school, do her music, work on her game, then has to come for practice. She makes it work and she’s reaping the rewards of her hard work.”
Johnson currently leads LSU with 22.4 ppg. Aneesah Morrow is dominating the glass with 13.2 rpg while transfer Shayeann Day-Wilson is pacing the Tigers with 4.7 apg and 2.1 spg this season.
