“You are so deserving”: Fans react as Kiyan Anthony’s mom La La Anthony honored for prison reform and community service work

La La Anthony received a special honor just in time for the Christmas holidays. The Department of Youth and Community Development recognized the mother of Syracuse star Kiyan Anthony for her prison reform and community service work.

She has been giving incarcerated individuals locked up in Rikers Island second chances through the "ThreeSixty" program of the La La Land Foundation. According to their website, the program provides legal services, life coaching, and mentorship to individuals aged 18 to 21.

Anthony praised her team on social media, writing that they always lead with love and compassion and that this is a moment she will never forget. Fans took to Instagram to praise Anthony for her latest honor, placing positive comments under her post.

La La Anthony joins son Kiyan Anthony during his Syracuse reveal

La La Anthony and NBA legend Carmelo Anthony showed support to their son Kiyan Anthony last month when he announced his college choice. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Long Island Lutheran High revealed that he will be playing for the Syracuse Orange starting next season.

He will be following in the footsteps of his famous father, who led Syracuse to the NCAA title in 2003. After donning the Syracuse cap, Kiyan hugged his parents, who were both emotional following his announcement on 7PM in Brooklyn.

"It's emotional. You make me proud everyday and I just want you to know, me as your mom being proud of you is not based on you as a basketball player. It's based on you as a person," La La said.
"Just continue to be an amazing person and treat people well and you’re gonna go far in life, whether it’s in basketball or anything you put your mind to because you’re just incredible and I love you so much," La La said.
