Amari Bailey was a five-star prospect of the 2022 class. He spent four years of his high school at Sierra Canyon and in a recent interview, he was asked to rate the best players from his former school. When talking to Megan Patricia on 'Overtime Megan,' to name the five best players.

Amari Bailey started by naming Brandon Boston Jr. but added that it was in no particular order.

"You can't order the homies," Patricia replied.
"Nah, you can't order them," Bailey said.

He went on to add Zaire Williams, Scottie Pippen Jr., Marvin Bagley III and KJ Martin Jr. to the list.

Amari Bailey was ranked No. 3 by ESPN. He was named a McDonald’s All-American in 2022, as he averaged 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 15 games as a senior. Bailey enjoyed a great run with Sierra Canyon before making the move to college.

Amari Bailey college career

Amari Bailey first committed to DePaul at the age of 13 but later switched to UCLA during his high school freshman year. He decommitted after Steve Alford's firing but came back again after the Bruins appointed Mick Cronin as the new coach.

“I just want to stay home and honestly it was just like the best fit,” Bailey said in the video. “I just feel like on and off the floor, UCLA is going to be the best place for me. The culture speaks for itself and I’m happy to be back.”

Amari Bailey spent just one season with the Bruins and averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He shot 49.5% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range.

He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and led the Bruins to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. ESPN's national recruiting director, Paul Biancardi, praised Bailey for his skills and said:

"He's a clever ball handler who changes his speeds and direction with purpose when navigating a defense. He's somewhat underrated as a versatile backcourt defender who will rebound and start the fast break. He owns an on-court presence and offensive instincts that remind me of D'Angelo Russell."

In the 2023 NBA draft, Amari Bailey was picked No. 41 overall by the Charlotte Hornets. He now plays in the NBA G League for the Long Island Nets.
