ESPN analyst and former NFL player, Marcus Spears' son plays for the Drive Nation team in Nike EYBL. A highlights video from his 15U game on Tuesday is trending on social media as fans rave about his skills.

Marcus Spears Jr. finished with 11 points and led Drive Nation to a 73-61 win over Team Final in the Peach Jam tournament.

Fans in the comments were excited to see Spears Jr.'s skills.

Some fans in the comments also noted that Marcus Spears was pretty involved in the game, shouting instructions and encouraging his son from the sidelines.

"When the whole fam is locked in on the sidelines," one fan said.

Spears Jr. is an incoming sophomore for the boys' varsity team at Prestonwood Christian Academy, Plato, Texas.


A look at Marcus Spears Jr.'s parents and their careers

Although Marcus Spears Jr.'s father is known as a football player, he was a two sport athlete in high school, playing football and basketball. He later picked football as his career when he transitioned to college in 2001. He spent four years with the LSU Tigers under coach Nick Saban.

Marcus Spears played tight end, fullback and defensive end in his freshman season. He then shifted to a full-time defensive role in his second season. Spears helped LSU win an SEC championship in 2004.

Spears was picked in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft, by the Dallas Cowboys. He played for nine seasons before retiring in 2014. From August 2014, Spears took the broadcasting role working with SEC Network as a college football analyst on the Saturday morning football pregame show.

After six years covering college football, Spears focused more on the professional league working as an analyst for ESPN from June 2020. He also contributed to Get Up, SportsCenter, First Take and other ESPN shows on a regular basis. Spears also hosts the Swagu & Perk podcast with his NBA friend, Kendrick Perkins.

Marcus Spears Jr.'s mother, Aiysha Spears, is a former LSU Tigers women's basketball alum. She was picked seventh overall by the Washington Mystics in the 2003 WNBA draft and played in a reserve role. She took a leave of absence in 2005, and this was ultimately her retirement.
