Oumar Ballo plays center for the Indiana Hoosiers and is a redshirt senior in the 2024-2025 season. Ballo hails from Koulikoro, Mali, and attended NBA Academy Latin America High School. He played for Gonzaga as a freshman before transferring to Arizona for the 2021-2022 season. Ballo played in 132 career games and was picked twice in the All-Pac-12 First Team. Throughout his career, Ballo registered 1,273 points, 867 rebounds, 109 assists, 76 steals, and 140 blocks. He entered the 2023-24 season having played 71 games in a row for the last two seasons. At Arizona Ballo averaged 9.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game with 64.6% shooting accuracy. In his senior season, he made it to the All-Pac-12 First Team, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, and the All-Tournament Team after recording 12.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

Oumar Ballo was ranked as the best overseas player of 2019 by ESPN's Jonathan Givony. Ballo was rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and was the one who ensured Mali became the first African team to finish second in the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup. Ballo had a remarkable World Cup, Ballo earned five All-Star honors while averaging 17.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game. During the finals against Team USA, he scored 15 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. He again was notable in the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup, where he averaged 21 points and 17 rebounds. He assisted Mali to win their first FIBA U18 African Championship in 2018, along with the U16 championship in 2017. He trained at the NBA Academy Latin America in Mexico City and was one of the youngest participants at the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during the NBA All-Star Weekend.
