Cassidy had more than 1,000 career points in basketball and excelled in four sports: football, baseball, track and field, and basketball. He scored 25 touchdowns and amassed over 1,500 yards as a quarterback. Cassidy led the CUHS Class of 2020 as valedictorian and was an all-conference, all-academic selection.

Cassidy finished with 92 points in three games to lead Columbus High to the St. Paul Tournament championship. In the championship game, he scored 39 points, a career high. As a four-star prospect following graduation, he chose to play for the University of Kansas (KU) in 2021–2022.
