College basketball fans ridiculed UConn coach Dan Hurley for his aggravated reaction in the middle of the Huskies 2024-25 Big East Conference season-opener against Xavier on Wednesday night.

The two-time national champion coach reacted furiously on the sidelines when center Tarris Reed was called for a moving pick on Xavier guard Dayvion McKnight while trying to give some space for a shooting Alex Karaban.

Here's the sequence that had Hurley go ballistic:

Some fans poked fun at the veteran coach on social media for his reaction:

"Dan Hurley probably has psychopathic tendencies," one fan said on X/Twitter.

Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"Karaban three taken off the board by Reed's second foul on an obvious moving screen. Dan Hurley throws a fit anyway," another fan wrote.
"You know it’s a schtick when he watches it back and still is mad when everyone sees it’s a foul," one fan added.
"He lifted the dude off the court....Pick your battles man," another fan pointed out.

Some fans believe Hurley was right in reacting to the call:

"That was an outrageous call!," one fan said.
"I wonder if he will get a bench warning for the behavior…," a fan added.

Dan Hurley wasn't called for a bench warning on his reaction but fans were certainly entertained by the UConn coach's antics when he felt the calls weren't favoring his team.

Dan Hurley's UConn opens defense of Big East Conference title with win over Xavier

Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies kicked off the defense of their Big East Conference title against Xavier on Wednesday night at XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Last year, UConn went 18-2 in the conference and captured the subsequent tournament, enabling them to have a good seeding in their run for the NCAA Tournament.

They swept the Musketeers last season by an average margin of 29 points, so the Huskies were expected to start with a bang to defend their Big East title.

Solo Ball had 22 points on the night while Tarris Reed Jr. and Alex Karaban added 20 points each in UConn's 94-89 win.

Liam McNeeley added 14 points while Hassan Diarra dropped 12 points, 11 assists and three rebounds in the game. For Xavier, Ryan Conwell scored a game-high 23 points in the loss.
