Ryan Kalkbrenner is a college basketball player for the Creighton Bluejays. Hailing from Missouri, Kalkbrenner attended Trinity Catholic High School where he began his basketball prep career. During his high school career, he earned the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and ended high school as a four-star recruit. He began his collegiate career with the Creighton Bluejays in 2020. Kalkbrenner made his debut for the Bluejays in the game against North Dakota State where he recorded eight points and two offensive rebounds for 11 minutes of game time. In the summer of 2021, he became a member of Team USA for the FIBA World Cup in Latvia, where he played alongside the likes of Chet Holmgren and Jaden Ivey. His performance in the semifinal against Canada included 10 points and four rebounds. Kalkbrenner contributed to the team's Gold medal at the 2021 FIBA World Cup.
As of the 2023-24 season, Kalkbrenner was named the Honorable Mention All-American by Associated Press and 247Sports, Second Team All-BIG EAST selection, and was a three-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, winning the honors in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
