Rylan Griffen is a collegiate basketball guard for the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big-12 conference of the NCAA. He was a four-star prospect and one of the country's best shooting guards in high school. In the 2022 class, Griffen was ranked by 247Sports as the third-best shooting guard and the 49th-best player overall. Griffen turned down offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, Georgia, and Kansas State, among other schools, in favor of Alabama.

Griffen had more than 2,000 points by the end of his high school career. During his senior year, he averaged 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals, which helped him win District 7-6A Offensive MVP. Griffen had the best time on the court when he was playing in the NCAA tournament. He shot 48.1 percent from three-point range and 50 percent from the field, averaging 12.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. In his sophomore season, he made 3+ three-pointers in 11 games, demonstrating an improvement in his three-point shooting. He participated in 36 games as a sophomore in 2023–2024 and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. However, he requested a transfer and joined Kansas Jayhawks for his junior season in 2024.
